The group and Hon. Bryan Acheampong
In a significant boost to his campaign momentum, scores of New Patriotic Party (NPP) coordinators across the Upper West Region have defected from Kennedy Agyapong to Dr. Bryan Acheampong.
The group publicly pledged their unconditional support to Dr. Acheampong on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at an event in Gwollu, Sissala West Constituency, during his engagement with delegates. Their declaration was met with loud applause from attendees.
Speaking for the coordinators, Sidik Marikz, Abdul Moomin Haruna, Tahiru Tampoure Ibrahim, and Mubashiru Nuhu explained their decision. They stated that while they initially believed Kennedy Agyapong represented the change the NPP needed, Dr. Acheampong's recent campaign tour of the Northern regions prompted a rethink.
They said "listening to Dr. Acheampong’s vision convinced us, he is better positioned to unite the party, rebuild its structures, and ensure it is adequately resourced for future elections." The group remark.
The coordinators specifically cited Dr. Acheampong’s disciplined message, practical policy proposals, and commitment to empowering the party's grassroots as the key reasons for their shift in support.
