The Interior Minister, Honorable Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, has commissioned the
new Upper West Regional Police Headquarters in Wa, marking a significant upgrade
to the region's security infrastructure.
The event took place on December 17,
2025 in Wa-Upper West Region, Ghana.
The modern facility, located in Wa Sombo, replaces the old regional headquarters on Ferguson Street at Degu. Hon. Mubarak described the project as a major milestone that strengthens the region's security framework and boosts policing capacity.
In his address, the Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to resourcing the Police Service through continued investment in logistics,
mobility, and infrastructure. He urged officers to use the new facility and
provided resources with accountability and efficiency.
Hon. Mubarak also emphasized that security is a shared responsibility. He called on traditional authorities,
chiefs, and community members to actively support the police through community intelligence and conflict resolution. "The commissioning of the Regional Police Headquarters marks a significant step in Government’s broader efforts to enhance security in the Upper West Region," the Minister stated.
He added that the new headquarters will improve rapid response, crime management, and coordination among security agencies.
The event was witnessed by several dignitaries,
including the Upper West Regional Minister, Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puozuing,revered chiefs, and former Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih.
The Minister commended the dedication of police personnel and appealed to the public to continue supporting and respecting the service for more effective law enforcement.
