The Waala Traditional Council has authorized the conversion of the Wa Tendamba Primary School land into a 24-hour economy market, necessitating the school's relocation. The decision, formalized in a letter dated January 14, 2026, from the Council President and Overlord of the Wala State, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, is intended to boost trade and economic activity in the region.
The approval follows consultations between the traditional authority, the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council led by Regional Minister Lawyer Charles Lwanga Puozuing, and the Wa Metropolitan Assembly under Mayor Alhaji Nurah Issa Danwana. The Council stated that the primary school site was unanimously agreed upon as the most suitable location for the project.
LOCATION FOR 24 HOURS’ MARKET
I am pleased to inform you that our discussions with the Tendamba on the above subject yielded positive results.
It was unanimously agreed that the proposed Tendaamba Primary School site is the most suitable location for the project.
Permission is thus given for the Municipal Assembly to initiate the processes that would lead to the establishment of the market there.
The relocation of the Tendaamba Primary School as proposed and outlined by the Assembly should be done immediately so as not to inconvenience or leave the pupils of the school in a limbo. Thank you.
